Nina Gässler is a German mountain biker living in Geilo, Norway. She is very active on her mountain bike, both in summer and winter. She has biked from Spain to Norway on multiple occasions. Read how she uses Trailguide to plan her rides and discover new trails.

How do you use Trailguide before, during, and after a bike ride?

I often pick destinations with lots of trails already mapped on Trailguide. When I arrive, I simply download the GPX files from the app, load them onto my GPS, and hit the trails.

However, during the ride I often check the map on trailguide to navigate the trails and have a look at map details.

If I'm biking in an unfamiliar area where there are no trails on Trailguide yet, the app is still my planning tool. Using the heatmap and being able to see satellite images of the area is very useful.

I'm very fond of discovering new areas and trails.

Where have you ridden so far this summer?

The trail biking season started on "home turf" near Alicante/San Vicente del Raspeig.

The area has lots of great trails and I've been riding there for many years. I constantly discover something new (especially using the heatmap).

I also had a few days in Kjekstadmarka. Very nice area with quite a few rock slabs and lots of trails mapped on Trailguide.

Do you have a favorite area?

I should really broaden my horizon a lot more, because I mostly cycle in the same areas.

Spain (within 75km of San Vicente del Raspeig) is of course on my list of favourites, simply because there is so much to discover.

Bodø/Saltstraumen has been an eye-opener. I went there BECAUSE there were so many trails on Trailguide, and it was a fantastic experience. Lots of flow-trails with great views of Lofoten

I also have to include my home areas of Hallingdal and Valdres.

Do you have any insider tips for more efficient use of Trailguide?

If you are using the heatmap for navigation, be a bit cautious in areas where fatbiking is popular in winter. Suddenly you might find yourself biking over a lake!

Maybe not an insider tip, but I would love to see more reviews written by users. I really appreciate reading about other people's experiences on the trails.
